Year 2

We are always very busy in Year 2! We work extremely hard and always try our best!

Pop in to our class and you will find us independently working on our 'Missions'. If we are not doing our missions, we can be seen working on focus groups (Bubbles) with Mr Matthews, Mrs Coles and Mrs Mayers.

Important Information

This term, we will be presenting our 'Me Boxes' so that we can get to know one another. We will be learning all about the differences and similarities between us and our friends, whilst understanding that we are all equal. We will also be looking at why rules are important and creating our own set of rules to follow in our classroom. We will finally be learning about our school values/rights and why they are so important.

In Literacy, we will be kicking off the term with our 'Pie Corbett'. We will be learning about setting descriptions and what skills we need to describe a setting successfully. We will be learning how to write in 3rd person, present tense, using adjectives in our writing as well as verbs and similes.

In Maths we will be focusing on Place Value, Addition and Subtraction. We will be learning about Ones, Tens and Hundreds, adding to the next 10, adding across a 10 and we will be subtracting single digit numbers from a two and three digit number.

Reading Books

Reading is extremely important! Children will be expected to read their school reading book every week. Books will be changed every Monday afternoon, so could all pupils return their books to school every Monday morning. Please make every effort to read with your children, even if it is 5/10 minutes every day.

PE

PE takes place on a Tuesday afternoon. Please provide your child with PE kit and trainers for this day (these can remain in the school cloakroom for the term if you wish).

Class Dojo

We use 'Class Dojo' to communicate with parents. All information will be shared on the 'Class Story', please make every effort to acknowledge the information shared. My 'Quiet Hours' are 17:30pm - 7:30am aswell as the weekends. Any messages received during this window will be responded to the following morning.

Thanks

Mr Matthews
